Privacy statement
What we collect through this website, and what we do with it.

Open Ocean Group Ltd runs openoceanwater.com. This statement explains what personal information we collect through the website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect and why
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, email address and message, and optionally your boat and system. We use these to reply and help with your enquiry. If you email or phone us directly, we keep that correspondence too.
When you order from the shop
Stripe handles our payments. At checkout, Stripe collects your name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address and card details. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe passes us your name, contact details, address and what you ordered, so we can process and ship your order, keep you updated, and keep business and tax records.
We give your name, address and phone number to the courier or shipping agent delivering your order.
Your cart
Your shopping cart is saved in your own browser, so it's still there when you come back. It isn't sent to us until you check out.
Website statistics
We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used, such as which pages are visited and roughly which country visitors are in. It uses cookies and doesn't tell us who you are. You can block it in your browser's cookie settings or with Google's opt-out add-on.
Who has your information
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with the services that help us run the business: Stripe (payments), Microsoft 365 (email), Google Analytics (site statistics), the services that host our website and deliver the contact form, and the courier or shipping agent delivering your order. We'll also share it if the law requires us to.
Some of these services store information outside New Zealand, including in the United States. We use established providers with their own privacy and security commitments.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and order records for as long as we need them to help you and to meet our legal obligations. Business and tax records are kept for 7 years, as New Zealand law requires.
Seeing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email info@openoceanwater.com or write to Open Ocean Group Ltd, 8 Haszard Street, Waihi, New Zealand. We'll respond within 20 working days.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes
We may update this statement. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
